This months kits were the April 2012 Studio Calico kits. I decided to counterfeit the Monmarte kit. It seemed liked a good first time kit to counterfeit. The kit is technically an add-on kit, so there wasn't a lot of items to overwhelmed me. Seeing some of the previous kits and how many items were packed into them has really intimidated me. In addition I was really drawn to the green, pink, and a little bit of yellow packed into this kit.
Here is my kit:
I know, I know it's a lot of stuff, at first I was going to just keep it simple and small and use it only for card making. Then it grew as I was collecting supplies. The first thing I did was go through my paper collections and choose the pattern paper. There are pieces from My Minds Eye's Quite Contrary, Cosmo Cricket Togetherness, American Crafts' Classics, and Basic Grey Wisteria Collections. Some of the pieces are not full sheets. I then selected some very basic colors from a Recollections neutral pack. I plan on counterfeiting the tags with the white and Kraft cardstock and the Cricut cartride Elegant Edges. I matched two of my Up & Up decorative tapes to the papers. I added two packs of Thickers and some small alphas too. I also pulled a handful of buttons in coordinating colors. I wasn't done counterfeiting yet. I use twine or string on pretty much everything, so I had pull some. While I was pulling the twine I noticed a collection of brads that coordinated. I also added an OA sprinkler and a Mr. Huey. Lastly, I added a couple of clothespins. Whew, I was done or so I thought. I just realized the Monmarte kit included a stamp. Duh, I even thought about what stamps to add. I am going to just grab stamps as I create this month. This is my first month, so I think I can let that slide.
I cannot wait to start creating with this kit. I enjoyed mixing up collections and manufacturers. I need to be more comfortable combining products and this is a great and easy way to start.

I love the kit you've put together!! Looking at yours I just realized I didn't include any neutral cardstock in my own ah well. Have fun with your kit!
ReplyDeleteLove all you selected for your kit!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Counterfeiting! The more you counterfeit, the more you'll settle on an amount of papers and cardstock that work well for you, but you should never feel intimidated by the other kits. Some people do a LOT of scrapping and some like to have a LOT of choice each month - but some of us prefer to limit our choices a little more and have smaller kits.
ReplyDeleteI love some of the patterns in your kit - those teals are particularly swoonsome! Looking forward to seeing you use them :)
I like your kit - although you went big on volume, it looks very coordinated - I bet you use it up in no time. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteLovely Kit look forward to seeing what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you've decided to join in at last - a great first kit - perhaps the size of it will get you creating LOTS this month. If not, cut back a little or keep it onside for a bit of extra variety next month. Whatever else you do HAVE FUN!
ReplyDeleteLove what you have got together - looks like you are going to have lots of fun :0)
ReplyDeleteYou have put together a beautiful kit. So fun to read your process!
ReplyDeleteGreat kit! I love those mini market stickers by October Afternoon. It's neat to hear your thought process for putting it together. Can't wait to see what you create!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you joined in. Now you will be hooked like the rest of us! LOL! Wonderful kit and great explanation of your thought process!
ReplyDeleteLove-looks like a great kit! Thanks for joining in!
ReplyDeleteOh, goodie - another convert, lol! I was surprised & delighted at how much creativity I have using my kits the past few months. I am working on older, random photos - my kit gives me coordinated choices that aren't matchy-matchy & I give myself permission to go "out of the box" if my page demands it. My memories - my choices! I am still expanding my vision for the counterfeiting portion which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Will have to keep up with what you are creating & get to know you better through your blog :~D
ReplyDeleteWelcome!
Love your kit!!I'm excited you finally decided to join us! I kind of "stalked" CKC blog for a couple of months before joining in too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love Counterfeit Kits, haven't made mine up yet, but I'm loving yours! Can't wait to see what you create, hugs, Roxy.
